This recipe takes a creamy custard and infuses it with banana flavor by stirring in chopped bananas while the custard is still hot. Then, the toasted coconut topping adds a perfect finish. See Coconut banana custard pie.
Sweet onions and tomatoes make this bialy our current favorite. We like sweet red onions best, but if they aren’t super sweet it’s not the same, so you can substitute a sweet Vidalia or Walla Walla instead. See Sweet onion and tomato bialy.
Bialys are a staple in New York City delicatessens. Having originated in Bialystok, Poland, they are sort of a cross between a bagel and a pizza with big bagel-like chewy crusts and a topping filled depression in the center, rather than a hole.
See Bialy dough.
